Ask The Trainer #152 - Taking Kre-Alkalyn Without Training?

QUESTION:

Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to gain weight and grow by taking EFX Kre-Alkalyn without lifting weights? Thank you.

Karim

ANSWER:

Hi Karim. The answer to your question is YES and NO. Understandably, this is a confusing answer, so let me explain it a little bit more so that it makes sense to you.

What Is Creatine?

Creatine is a hydrating compound that increases the water content of your muscle cells. In the bodybuilding world, this phenomenon is often referred to as cell “volumization” (similar to swelling). A hydrated muscle cell is simply more efficient in every possible way.

Creatine itself is an essential component of our biological energy systems, as well as a plethora of metabolic processes. Some of these processes involve the formation of new proteins in the body. This is how muscles become larger. Sounds pretty awesome so far, right?

No Training = No Gaining

Now here’s the bad news. Yes, you could experience a slight increase in muscle size by using just Kre-Alkalyn. This would be due to the fact your muscles cells are better hydrated, which would make them appear more full.

You’re not going to see any significant changes in muscle size, or shape, just by taking Kre-Alkalyn alone, without doing some weightlifting. There is an overwhelming amount of research that demonstrates when subjects supplement with creatine AND lift weights, there are very compelling changes that transpire.

Among those changes are notable increases in strength and muscle size. In other words, creatine can be a very useful component to promoting muscle growth. But, it isn’t going to work miracles by itself. This is the case with all of the top natural bodybuilding supplement on the market.

You Need A Catalyst

Natural supplements like creatine can be very effective. But, they need a catalyst if they are going to do something. The catalyst I’m referring to is muscle stimulation, through progressive resistance training or weight lifting.

This means you must gradually increase the amount of weight and tension you place on your muscles over a period of time. This is the key to significant muscle hypertrophy (growth).

How Muscle Growth Happens

When you engage in progressive resistance training, the tension causes tiny micro-tears in the muscles. These micro tears warrant repair of those muscle fibers.

This where the body does something extraordinary! Through a series of chemical processes, the body utilizes available nutrients to repair the damaged muscle fibers. Not only does the body repair these fibers, it actually builds them back larger and stronger than before! This is the body’s way of protecting itself from impending stress in the form of muscle tension caused by heavier weight loads.

Taking supplements can support this process. But, taking them alone will not initiate this process. You MUST lift weights!

I hope this answers your question. I wish you all the best of success in your health and fitness endeavors!
