What food calls summer to mind more than an icy cold smoothie? Here is a delicious and nutritious smoothie bowl with ingredients your body will thank you for—beginning with your taste buds—this will leave your body happy from the inside out! We all know fruit is good for us, but there are some things these particular fruits do that are really worth noting.
You can get goji berry products at a health food store, at your supermarket, or buy them online. They powder or juice works the best for this recipe, but you can use the dried berries if you sprinkle them on top instead of adding them to the blender.
Raspberries: contain fiber, vitamin C, folate, vitamin k, polyphenols, and other powerful antioxidants; contain chemicals which may prevent macular degeneration; increase brain power; contribute to heart health; prevent cancer; boost the immune system; help manage diabetes by keeping the blood sugar stable; contain ketones which help promote weight loss; and are good for the skin.
Strawberries: prevent heart disease, depression (who knew?), cancer, & stroke, they also help manage diabetes and promote pregnancies; they contain fiber, folate, vitamin C & potassium; and they are low on the glycemic index.
Chia Seeds: they are rich in antioxidants, iron, calcium, omega 3 fatty acids, protein, electrolytes, and have a lot of fiber! They may reduce the risk of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, and diverticulosis; they also improve sports performance.
Goji berries: boost energy levels and performance, treat diabetes, fight depression, benefit the immune system, fight cancer, stabilize blood sugar, detox the liver, and are good for skin & eye health. They contain a lot of antioxidants such as vitamin A & C, and minerals such as iron.
Bananas: contain potassium, which improves heart health and lowers blood pressure; as well as helping muscle cells contract; may prevent kidney stones and muscle cramps.
Whey protein: Aids weight loss and preserves lean muscle, may prevent cancer, lowers cholesterol, studies have shown it helps children with asthma, lowers blood pressure and heart disease.
Greek Yogurt: improves digestive health & the immune system with probiotics and protein! It also contains calcium, zinc, B12, B6, and is lower in lactose than typical yogurt.
