You can make gummies with just about all of the EFX Sports powdered supplements. But, when you mix them with gelatin, there are specific requirements to make them come out perfect. Gelatin can be a bit more ‘picky’ than water, so I’ve turned my kitchen into a ‘gummy candy science lab’ and taken the guesswork out of it for you. When I first made Karbolyn gummies, I thought Karbolyn would behave like sugar in a gelatin recipe. I was wrong.
Since Karbolyn is not sugar, of course, it did not behave like sugar! It made for a much more fragile candy that broke apart easily. I can imagine that is how it behaves in your body as well; simple carbs that are quickly easily absorbed as glycogen when your body needs them most. That made it beautiful to me! I HAD to get this right. Enter a friend on Twitter, whose wife came up with a great recipe. I had to tweak it a little by adding more gelatin, but the results are nothing short of EPIC! Since you have to use a high ratio of gelatin and water to Karbolyn, you will get fewer carbs. Plus, the carbs you will get are MUCH better than traditional gummy bears loaded with sugar. Consider these gummy bears rocket fuel for your muscles!
Ingredients:
- ½ scoop Karbolyn (any flavor—I used fruit punch which was AWESOME)
- ¼ cup plain gelatin (2 envelopes)
- 8 oz. water
- 1 stevia packet if desired (I think they are sweet enough without it but would like them either way)
- 5-7 candy molds and a kitchen dropper. This makes a LOT of gummies. A dusting of cornstarch
Directions:
Put the water in a large glass bowl. Sprinkle in the powdered ingredients while you whip them with a fork to prevent lumps from forming. Stir until there are no more lumps. Microwave until the mixture is frothy (about 2 minutes). Use the dropper to fill each candy mold. Let the candy solidify for 5 or 10 minutes before you try to move it to the freezer. Freeze for 10-20 minutes; the larger the candy the more time it will need. You can also refrigerate for an hour or two instead of freezing. Take them out of the molds and put a slight dusting of cornstarch in a container, cover and shake them. This prevents them from sticking together.
