This combo never gets old! There are many reasons to include strawberries into your diet… and this simple low-calorie way is a great way to do it this summer. It tastes like a creamy treat you would get at a fast food restaurant—but it’s a much better choice to put into your body. At EFX Sports, we know that is what athletes like you crave, so enjoy!
Strawberries are a low glycemic index (GI) fruit that will burn slowly without spiking your blood sugar while giving you about half your daily requirement of vitamin C (in ½ cup). Strawberries also contain ellagic acid, which has been shown to help fight cancer by suppressing its growth. The lutein contained in strawberries promotes eye health, which is important since we spend so much of our lives staring at glowing phone and computer screens. They also help to fight bad cholesterol, reduce inflammation, regulate blood pressure, boost fiber and regulate blood sugar and contain folate that may help prevent spina bifida in newborn babies.
As always, I do suggest buying organic produce when you can!
